Nine gymnasts from Eureka Gymnastics Club attended the CSG Classic at Christchurch School of Gymnastics in New Zealand on the 5th – 7th of July. Over 500 gymnasts from Women’s Artistic and Men’s Artistic disciplines were entered in the three day event.
Eureka Gymnastics Club entered one team at level 7 and one team at level 8. The level 8 team placed first in the team competition. Six of the nine girls qualified to compete in the apparatus finals on the second day, and three of those girls had individual success: in the level 8 competition Megan won the silver medal on beam and Emma won the silver medal on floor; in the level 7 competition Melina won the bronze medal on floor. Also in the level 7 competition, Rebekah finished in 4th place on beam by just 0.1.
This was the first time a club from Ballarat had competed at an overseas competition and the first time gymnasts representing Eureka Gymnastics Club had competed outside Victoria.
Team members were:
- Level 8 – Airleigh, Bianca, Emma, Megan
- Level 7 – Amelia, Darcy, Melina, Olivia, Rebekah
